When used in line attached to the pump drain valve, oil can be filtered directly from the pump into a container placed under the filter valve. A vent tube aids in a smooth flow through the filter while being long enough to prevent oil from overflowing the unit.
Filtration for 500ml of oil is accomplished in around 1 – 1/2 to 2 – 1/2 hours depending on the temperature and condition of the filters. This can usually be completed during the defrosting cycle of the freeze dryer.
The oil will pass through a stainless steel screen, cotton filter, paper filter, and a carbon filter to ensure impurities and particulates are removed before the oil is used again. The screen can be rinsed out and reused indefinitely. The internal filter media can be used multiple times before replacement is needed. The number of cycles is dependent on a number of factors including, temperature, moisture, and contamination in the oil. it is reasonable to expect 10 or more uses before the filter media needs to be changed. The filter will continue to process the oil more slowly as the media becomes dirty. The filters will need to be changed when you determine it is taking longer than will fit your needs.
Filter Weight (without fluid) = 18Oz.
Overall Length including vent tube and valve = 12-1/2″
